Elaine Griffin is Associate Provost for Institutional Effectiveness at
Lipscomb
University in
Nashville, Tenn. In her role as associate provost, she leads the Strategic Planning Team from the planning design phase to the implementation phase. Additionally, she provides the university-wide educational programs for continuous quality improvement processes for assessment both academically and operationally, and is the university liaison for accrediting bodies.
Prior to her move to the academic profession, Elaine was a healthcare executive in acute care and longterm care healthcare organizations, and in 1994 pursued a consulting career and served with Johnson & Johnson Health Care Systems, Inc., until 1998. In her consulting role she taught continuous quality improvement concepts, strategic planning, and service operations improvement in hospitals nationwide. She focused on customer satisfaction through process-improvement techniques such as value analysis, creative thinking and work redesign, change strategies, operations improvement, and human resource management.
Elaine worked with
University of
Dayton business administration students as their professional mentor and lectured to the masters students in nursing at the
University of
Cincinnati where she was an adjunct clinical professor. In 1998, she joined the
College of
Business faculty at
Harding
University in
Searcy, Arkansas , where she taught general management and healthcare management courses in both undergraduate and graduate levels. Elaine joined the faculty in the
College of
Business at
Lipscomb
University in 1999 as the chair of the MBA Healthcare Management program. She taught the graduate healthcare management courses, Human Resource Management, Service Operations Management and the undergraduate senior capstone course, Business Policy and Strategy.
Elaine holds an RN from the Hillcrest Medical School of Nursing in
Tulsa, Oklahoma and a Bachelor of Arts from
Stephens
College in
Columbia, Missouri. She holds a Master of Healthcare Administration from the
University of
Minnesota , a Master of Business Administration from
Southwest
Missouri
State
University in
Springfield and a Doctor of Philosophy in Health Services and Social Change from
Walden
University in
Minneapolis.
Elaine has achieved Fellow status in the American College of Healthcare Executives. She has authored numerous articles with topics ranging from providing cost-effective care to working collaboratively with physicians, healthcare executives, managers, and employees. Elaine volunteers annually as a medical missionary to Central America.
